For those of you who don't know about all of the medical issues my grandma has had lately, here's the "short" version:
*In October 2006, she had what was to be a routine hysterectomy and there were complications in the surgery. Her incision didn't heal correctly, so the doctors and wound care nurses have been working really hard to get it to heal.
*Since some of the complications have been in her digestive tract, she's had a PIC line (feeding tube) in since the previous surgery. She has been able to eat off and on since, but on Wednesday she was taken by ambulance to the hospital with a fever of 104 due to an infection in her PIC line. They've had her there since.
*There's been a mysterious fluid in her abdomen that the doctors have tried many times to identify and take care of, but as of yesterday the fluid was still gathering and possibly causing inflamation in her liver.
*My poor grandma has spent almost all of the last two months in the hospital. She hates to be there (who doesn't) and it just doesn't do good things for her mind and soul to be there. She just wants to be home...and I don't blame her :(
*My 82-year old grandpa has been her primary caregiver since all of this happened in October...he's such a faithful husband and loves my grandma more than I think we'll ever know, but it's taking its toll on him as well...he just wants his wife to be well...
*My grandma has been battling diabetes for many years, and it's been even more difficult to control since she's been on and off the PIC line...she has dangerous sugar highs and lows all the time, which only contribute to the difficulty her body is having healing.
We are just asking God for a miraculous healing...we are thankful to all of the medical professionals that are trying their best to take good care of her, but we know that her recovery does not rest in the hands of the doctors.
Thank you all in advance for your prayers on her behalf.
