Our First Post...

Welcome to our new blog! I promise we'll try to be better about updating it...I think I'll even give Todd the user name and password so that on occasion he can post something, too! :) Here's a quick overview to get you up to speed...

On February 6th we welcomed our first child into the world...our sweet daughter Hailey...we love her so much and thank the Lord for her, but parenthood hasn't been as easy as it would seem.

When she was a few days old, we found out she had jaundice. She lost a lot of weight at birth and struggled nursing...the nurses at Mary Bridge had to come out every day to weigh her and take her blood while we had her on biliruben lights to help get her well, and eventually she was well! What a day that was when we could hold her as long as we wanted without worrying about her being on the lights!

At Hailey's 2 month appointment, we discovered that she'd only gained a pound since birth. The doctor also diagnosed her with acid reflux, which causes burning in her throat that is incredibly painful for her and she spits up a lot, causing poor weight gain. Soon after that appointment we had her weighed again and found out she'd lost weight. This was very concerning to the doctor and he then had us feeding her every 3 hours round the clock, then pumping and supplementing with a bottle. It may not sound like much, but was very exhausting for all of us...especially Hailey!

We're still having her weight closely monitored, since she's still only gained a little over 2 pounds since she was born. According to the doctor, most healthy babies gain at least a pound a month. We've had a few tests done, including an ultrasound of her stomach and a chest x-ray and thankfully they looked okay. We're going to Children's on Tuesday for another round of tests, so please keep us in your prayers. We are asking God for a miraculous healing...

Don't get me wrong, things haven't been all bad...here's some other great highlights of the past 3 months...

*Chris and Christy announced they are pregnant...with a boy!
*We moved into a beautiful house that Todd remodeled for us.
*We got to help throw a birthday party for my one-year old niece, Gabby
*Both Todd and myself got to be in our friends Mike & Stephanie's wedding
*Hailey has started to smile all the time, giggle and laugh, and she's really developing well...we think she's advanced, but I think that's something all parents think!

That's all for now...thanks for reading our family blog and please keep our sweet baby Hailey in your prayers!
