second chances...

Today is one of those days where I feel like a complete failure as a wife and a mom. I've been impatient, frustrated, and short-tempered and Todd and Hailey felt the brunt of it. I don't know what prompts days like these...sin, I guess...but what I love about God and his beautiful grace is that I have another chance to be who He wants me to be...starting now.

I just spent time dancing with my baby girl to some awesome worship music, telling her how thankful I am for her and asking the Lord for forgiveness for letting my flesh get the best of me today. Just before I put her to bed, she looked up at me, snuggled into my arms and gave me the best smile I've seen all day. She's not mad at me...not holding a grudge...she just loves me.

What a beautiful picture of God's grace...it's letting him down and still getting his best smile of the day...

I'm thankful for grace...

Mmmmm....

Thanks, Christy, for dinner! It was YUMMY. :)

*For those of you who are curious, it was brocoli cheddar soup, homemade biscuits, and brownies for dessert...AND avacados & chips for guac another night... :)

So far, so good...

Well, here we are having survived day one of surgery recovery and I have to say it's gone surprisingly well...in fact, Todd feels so good he thinks he should be allowed to go to Home Depot!?! Sorry, dude...no Home Depot...you've got gause hanging below your nose catching the "drainage" (sorry, tmi) and are still on pretty major pain killers! :)

Pray for him tomorrow at 9:30 if you think of it...we're going for his post-op appointment and they'll need to unpack his nose and pull the drains out! It sounds unpleasant, huh?? That's because it is...according to Todd's Aunt Carey (a nurse) that is the most awful part of this whole ordeal.

I am so incredibly blessed with people that are so helpful with my daughter!! My mom and sister split the "surgery shift", and then after we got home and realized that my responsibilities were going to be much more involved than I initially thought, Todd's mom graciously came by and took Hailey for some much needed play time at her Grandma and Grandpa's house! Then my folks came to the rescue and offered to take her overnight so I can focus all my attention on Todd and take him for his appointment in the morning...I am so thankful to all of you!! THEN Christy calls and offers to bring us dinner tomorrow night!?! What more can a girl ask for?? :)

Patient Update...

Well, he's home...in one piece... :)The doctor said Todd's sinus surgery went just fine and he should be done snoring in about 3 weeks. :) This news is much more exciting to me than Todd. Also, his chronic sinus infections will be so much better. I've come to grips that my husband is the most funny when on drugs... :)
The best quotes of the day:
(after changing into his gown, shoe covers and hair net his gown kept falling off his shoulders) Todd: "Oooh...my blouse is coming off!!"
*I laugh at him, look away and back again and find my husband has pulled his "blouse" down past his uhem...how shall I say...nipple...
Todd: "Oh, man...I'm getting so tired...the anestesia must be kicking in"
Jess: "Todd, we haven't even met the anestesiologist yet."
(after surgery, in recovery and TOTALLY out of it)
Todd: "Fix my blouse, fix my blouse!!"
and in his usual fashion, saving the best for last...
Jess: "I wonder if your nose will look any different since they re-broke the bone in the middle."
Todd: "I'm sure it will...and I'll get lots of ladies!!"

don't you wish this was real?!? :)

15-Month Appointment

I'd post a picture, but I still haven't put all of our files on the new laptop. I promise, I'll get back in the groove... :)

At her 15-Month appointment (which I scheduled two weeks early because I had some concerns with a cough she's had) here are the stats:

Weight: 19.2 lbs. (15th percentile)
Height: 30 inches (50th percentile)
Development: right on target.
Teeth: She's got 8 and is apparently working on some molars!!
Level of Drama: 11 on a scale of 1 to 10!! The second the doctor walked into the exam room she started getting antsy and when I put her up on the table so he could listen to her with the stethescope (sp?) she went APE!! Started screaming and saying "Mama" and having a fit! He again commented that she was bound to be an actress because she turned on the tears in literally less than 10 seconds! I have no clue where she got this from... :)

All went well...although the drama went up to a 12 when the nurse came in to give her shots...after she was done and we were on our way out she pulled her binkie out of her mouth and said "Bu-bye" through the gasps of her trying to calm down!! Priceless...

like father like daughter...

I went in to check on Hailey last night because I heard some noises coming from her room...and went in to find that she talks in her sleep just like Todd!!! :) She was saying "bu-bye...bu-bye" over and over again. :)

Sweet baby girl...

I Am Fluff-Girl!!!

Happy 21st Birthday Sheeshe & Jac!!
Coincidentally, these two bestest of friends were born 3 days apart!!! :)

We had such a good time last night hanging out for Alicia's "Non-Party"...just a big group of girls having dinner and attempting to see a movie...let me just say, after 10 minutes of pretty consistent "inappropriate content" (which resulted in everyone in our party gasping and hiding our eyes) we ditched the movie and found ourselves all sitting outside the theater on some couches having some really awesome laughs!! It kind of ended up becoming a "roast" for Alicia! She was a REALLY funny kid...among the best of stories was "I Am Fluff-Girl"...let's just say Alicia has been a little OCD since she was little and really enjoyed making sure there was no fluff left in the lint trap of my parent's dryer!! :)

Here are a few highlights -

*Finding out that Alicia and Jaclyn have been friends since before birth...SERIOUSLY!! Our mom and Jac's mom had a joint baby shower when they were preggers with the two girls...
*Sitting down for Alicia's first "of age" dinner and having her NOT EVEN GET CARDED when she ordered a drink!! I am quite certain she does NOT look 39 1/2, people!

*Alicia trying every alcoholic beverage from beer to champagne, to wine, to frilly drinks and deciding her fave of the night was the water she had with her dinner!! :)

*Please refer to the above "innapropriate content" story and remind yourself that MY MOM WAS THERE!!! AWKWARD!! :)

*Lots of laughs, and a few "laugh 'til you cry and almost pee" moments

*The story of Jac serving a glass of wine with a straw when she was a waitress...(you'll have to ask her for the full story, which is HILARIOUS)

*Lots of love...Alicia, I hope you know how much we all love you! We're all so excited for you as you've officially entered adulthood...now, BE GOOD!! ;)
(Sorry I'm a day late in posting this... :)

TA-DA!!!

It's finally done...and we're so excited!

I'm missing a picture of the jetted tub (and the toilet, but who wants to see that?!?) but once I get one I'll post it...I can't believe our master bathroom is finally done, and my husband is SOOO handy! He did such a good job...
WAY TO GO, TODD!! :)

Hailey in her shortie robe...from Cuzin' Aimee... :)
Anything can become a toy...even a box from Costco...
Hailey has recently discovered how much she loves being outside!
Such a sweet face, huh?
Do you like the new bubble outfit? So cute...
Here we are at the park...she's a little excited about it... :)
Here's Hailey sitting in her new chair from Nana and Papa...
And this is a new face we're still trying to figure out! :)
Here she is loving Daddy while he works on the bathroom...
And here she is saying "Please" for something... :)

Welcome Mason James!!!

We are so excited to pass along the news that our nephew Mason James Fry was born today at 7:21pm (Eastern Time, of course!) He is 7 lbs., 12 oz. and absolutely perfect! Congratulations to Aaron, Lisa and Gabby as they've successfully become a family of four...

We love you to pieces and wish we could be there! I tried to convince Todd's mom to take me in her suitcase, but she wasn't going for it... :)

P.S. Thanks to the Frys for allowing me to hi-jack these pics...I love him already!! :)
